She was an excellent mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and also, a friend to those who crossed her path. Elsie was a wonderful cook and baker! Every year around the holidays, the wonderful aroma of pies, baked bread, cookies and many holiday baked -goods, were evident as the smell of the season was experienced. She loved her family, and made sure that each and everyone felt her love. In fact her common comment to them was: “I love you, and don’t you forget it!” She was the Mom and “Mamaw”, who sacrificed and gave, so that her family could have!
She is survived by her children, Joel Brackett (Susan), Jenitha Brackett, Jerilyn Garza, and John Brackett (Becky). Grandchildren: CJ Brackett (Tori), Rebecca Brackett, Amanda Garza and Anthony Garza. Great grandchildren: Blake Brackett, Caleb Brackett, Ethan Brackett, Jackson Brackett, Darla Brackett and CJ Brackett, Jr., Corey Brackett, Cameron Brackett, Cloe Brackett and Michael Brackett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Charles Samuel Brackett of Charlotte, NC, her parents, Theodore and Nell Butler, of Florida, 1 sister, Evelyn Chauncey, of Florida and one son-in-law, Luis Garza, of Texas.
She was a licensed minister of the Church of God of Prophecy. She served in many capacities of the Church, alongside her husband for over 50 years. She was faithful unto the Lord, whom she dearly loved!
