Barbara Burton, 85, of Newport, KY, passed away from natural cause, in her home on January 24th. She was born, Barbara Ellen Napier, in Pineville, KY in 1938, to parents: Lloyd Napier and Hazel Elliot. She spoke of hard times growing up in Eastern Kentucky in the 1940s, which paved the path for the strong, independant and sometimes stubborn woman, she was known to be. She married Nathan Burton and was "glad to get out of these mountains" to the city scene she preferred. She spent her time as a house keeper and the matriarch to a large family. A spit-fire specimen of God's creation, she will be remembered for her love of Elvis and her love to cook. She expressed her love and care, by feeding those around her. Her biscuits and gravy, vegetable soup, peanut butter fudge and chocolate pie will be missed as much as her. Barbara - Barb, BB or just Granny to the rest - will always hold a special place, in the hearts of those who knew her. To quote Elvis, "It's not how much you have that makes people look up to you, its' who you are".
She was preceded in death by brothers Orville Napier, Stan Napier Sr. and Lloyd Napier, as well as daughters Dianna Burton and Pat Delaney and grandson Nathan Burton.
She is survived by sisters - Alberta Brown, Stella Michael and Sue christian, son Nathan Burton, daughter Sherry Eckler and many grandkids and great grandkids
