Charles (Bob) Bennett, 87, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, KY. Charles was born in Arjay, KY on August 22, 1924. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman from the U.S Navy after serving on the U.S.S Mayo Battleship for 4 years. He received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He was a coal miner at Blue Ridge Coal Company. He retired from National Metal in Connersville, IN. He was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church, Arjay, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo Bennett and Rena Miracle Bennett; sisters, Mildred Bargo, Marie Smith, Winfred Treece, Beullah Bennett, Betsly Bennett; brother, Fred (Bud) Bennett; wife Docie Taylor Bennett, and a son Joseph David Bennett.
Survivors include his children, Lorraine (Joe) Asher, London, KY., Charles, JR. (Joyce) Bennett of Pineville, KY., Ira Mae (Paul) Cummins, of Seymour, TN., Joanie Jewell (Kenneth) Bennett, of Connersville IN., Anna Marie (Harry) Montgomery of Connersville, IN., Jerry Lee (Debbie) Bennett, of Shelbyville IN., Stevie Darrell (Lisa) Bennett of Kodak, TN., Lisa (Ronnie) Hubbard of Arjay, KY; sister Edith Sanders of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers, Earl Jack Bennett of Connersville, IN., Joey Bennett of Connersville, IN., 20 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
