Mona Rae Defevers, 83 of Kettle Island entered her eternal, heavenly home with her Saviour, February 18, 2021. Mona was born May 3, 1937 in Kettle Island, KY to her parents, Fred and Catherine Howard Brock. She married Edward Defevers, August 6, 1953, and she worked at Pineville Community Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Eddie Defevers, great-granddaughter, Ava Faith Defevers, son-in-law Gayle Michael Chavies, brothers, Ben Brock, JD Brock, Clyde Brock, and Oliver Brock.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Chavies, son, Scott Defevers, four grandchildren, Josh (Kati) Defevers, Jessica (Clay) Carroll, Jonathan (Tiffany) Defevers, and Holly (Kenny) Vanover, eight great-grandchildren, Caitlin Defevers, Brayden Carroll, Claire Partin, Tucker Partin, Kasen Vanover, Hunter Vanover, Hudson Carroll, and Eden Rae Defevers. She is also survived by her brother, James (Mary Jo) Brock, and sisters Wanda Vinson and Brenda (Pat) Liming and special friends Keith and Jackie Lefevers.
She was saved at Pioneer Baptist Church at an early age and had been a lifelong member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, and coordinated the card ministry where she would mail out a card with encouraging words to anyone in need. She was currently attending Binghamtown Baptist Church. She loved attending church and always praised the Lord for blessings in her life.
Services will be Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Brooks-Durham Funeral home, visitation from 1-2 with funeral starting at 2 with Dr. William Boyd Bingham III presiding and music by Benny Howard. Burial will follow at Carroll Family Cemetery, Ingram, KY with Jonathan Defevers, Josh Defevers, Clay Carroll, Kenny Vanover, Rodger Howard, Bill Bailey and Brayden Carroll as Pallbearers; Dr. C.A Moore as Honorary Pallbearer.
