Donnie Lawson

Donnie Lawson, of Ashland Kentucky passed away surrounded by his brothers and sisters Saturday February 15th, 2025 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was born on Nov 7th, 1977 in Pineville Kentucky to the late Joyce Faye Hensley and Curtis Lawson Jr.

Throughout his life Donnie demonstrated remarkable strength and courage. In 1992 Donnie survived a devastating accident that could have taken his life. In a miraculous moment, he was given a glimpse of the beauty that lies beyond this world. He saw the beauty and wonder of Heaven and was met at the Golden Gates of Heaven when a voice told him “not yet.”

Donnie had the kindest heart and most infectious smile. His contagious laugh could brighten even the darkest of days. To know Donnie, was to love him. Now it is his time to return to the heavenly home he got to see a glimpse of so many years ago.

Donnie loved to watch movies, he loved Harry Potter and playing basketball. Now, he is playing in the ultimate tournament, with the greatest players of all time, on the heavenly courts of gold.

We will miss our Bub Bub dearly but we will take comfort in the fact that his memory will live on in our hearts. We will remember his laughter, his smile and his unwavering kindness. We will honor him by living our lives with the same courage that he demonstrated everyday. We love you Bub bub. Save us a slice of pizza.

Donnie is preceded in death by his mother Joyce Faye Hensley and father Curtis Lawson Jr., maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents and a special cousin Timothy Lawson. He is survived by brothers Curtis Ray Lawson, Clayton Jason Lawson, & Shane Lawson ( Kaycee), sisters Cheryl Lynn Lawson, Wanda Ann Hunley (Mark), and Heather Nicole Oldham (Hunter), a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Donnie’s life will follow his cremation, where family and friends will gather to honor his remarkable journey and the love he shared with those around him. Details will be sent out to family and friends.
