Carrie Virginia Kelly Griffin, 70 of Hulen, passed away May 12, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Corbin, KY. She was born December 28, 1946 in Long Ridge, KY, to Marlin and Edna Johnson Kelly. She married Clellia Griffin on June 13, 1966. Carrie was a homemaker and beloved mother, and grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She attended Whipple Baptist Church until failing health kept her home but she kept her faith to the very end.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son Clellia Griffin, Jr., and grandson Dakota Brock, brother Daniel Kelly, sisters Coralee Messer, Elizabeth Tilda Kelly, and Ann Kelly.
She leaves behind three daughters, Ethel Brock, Hulen, KY, Marlene (Rodney) Hoskins, Corbin, KY, Laura (Wayne) Lee, Hulen, KY, one son Marlin Hubbard (Beverly) Griffin, Hulen, KY; brother Norris (Cora) Kelly, Middlesboro, KY; two sisters Versa (John) Partin, Hulen, KY and Arlevia Kelly, Florida; brother-in-law Sidgel (Sally) Griffin, Tugglesville, KY; sister-in-law Linda Kelly, Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren Trisha (Tobias) Kruger Trier Germany, Sierra Brock, Middleboro, KY, Trevor Brock, Hulen, KY, Brittany (Joey) Napier-Hill, Corbin, KY, Megan Napier (Cody) Napier-Smith, Corbin, KY, Donavon Napier, Pineville, KY, Scottie Lee, Falisha Lee, Samantha Lee, Aaron Lee, Brandon Lee all of Hulen, KY, Kellie Lee, Corbin, KY; seven great-grandchildren Myki Crawford, Dominick Hill, Kamira Hill, Chase Brock, Memory Hill, Camryn Smith and Carson Smith all of Corbin, KY; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Baptist Health Corbin and Bluegrass Hospice Care for their support in her final days.
Funeral services will be 2PM, Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Blackmont Baptist Church with Rev. David Howard; burial will follow in Kelly-Griffin Cemetery, Cardinal, KY; music will be provided by Blackmont Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive after 12noon Tuesday, May 16, 2017 until the funeral hour at 2PM at Blackmont Baptist Church. The Brooks-Durham Funeral home is honored to serve the Griffin family.
