Lawrence Hoskins, 89, of Kettle Island, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012, at Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Meadow Branch, Kettle Island KY on November 30, 1922, a son of the late Bass and Sarah Napier Hoskins. He was a member and trustee of the Calvery Chapel Pentecostal Church at Mill Creek. He had been a Surface Miner and worked for Cyprus Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Caldwell Hoskins; daughter Sharlotte Hoskins Lawson and an infant son; brothers George Hoskins and Robert Hoskins; sister Cloie Hendrickson.
Survivors include his children, Sharon Hoskins Woolum, Gary Michael Hoskins and Daniel (Georgia) Hoskins; brothers, Daniel Hoskins, Walter Hoskins, Fred Hoskins and Franklin Hoskins; sisters Wilalene Brock, Barbara Howard, Evelyn Davis and Martine Wietzel; grandchildren Harold Hoskins, Michael Lawrence Hoskins, Amanda Beth Messer, Rebecca Rachelle Abner and Rodney Brandon Lawson; great-grandchildren Harold Arthur Hoskins, Ryan Daniel Hoskins and Marlee Reese Messer; great-great-grandchildren Madison Hoskins and Bo Bentley Hoskins and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 AM Thursday February 2, 2012 at the Brooks-Durham Funeral Home with Rev. Don Messer and Rev. Teddy Collett. Music will be by Faye Messer. Pallbearers will Harold Arthur Hoskins, Michael Lawrence Hoskins, Ralph Caldwell, Tony Hoskins, Donny Hoskins and Steve Hoskins; Honorary Pallbearers will be employees at Amedisys Home Healthcare of Middlesboro, KY. Burial will be in the Hoskins Family Cemetery, Kettle Island. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Wednesday February 1, 2012 at the Brooks-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is honored to be serving Hoskins Family.
