Gary Jones, age 56 of Arjay, KY departed this life, September 24, 2021 at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. He was born in Pineville, KY on August 15, 1965 to the late Leonard and Edith Jones. Gary had been a coal miner and had enjoyed arrowhead hunting and Ginsenging but most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the best papaw.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, David Wayne Jones; sisters Annie Jones Ivy, Yvonne Jones Hoskins and Jennifer Jones Sanders; special son-in-law DD Dixon.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Elsie Jones; daughters Samantha Smith, Wendy (Tim) Ogan, Bridgett Dixon and April Lankford; son Johnny (Juanita) Lankford; grandchildren Curtis Ogan, Jessica Smith, Whitney West, Lance Ogan, Nikki Roe, Dustin Dixon, Lindsay Lankford, Brooke Lee and Chelsie Lankford; great-grandchildren Shawn Sinkhorn, Kiley Sinkhorn, Landon Ogan, Laylah Ogan, Aria Ogan, Raelynn Toms, Presley Nelson, Adalynn Toms, Abigail Roe, Tucker Nelson, Camden Ogan, Penelope Roe, Aubrey Dixon, Riley Roe, Kaden Lee, Mackenzie Lee and Gemma Runion; brothers Leonard Jones Jr, and Carl Jones; sisters Brenda Jones Helton and Charlotte Jones Brummett; special son-in-law Tim Ogan; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be 2PM on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Green Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery with Rev Carl Jones; music will be provided by Rosemary Jones; Mark Miracle, Samantha Smith, Chelsie Lankford, Damian Runion, Tim Ogan, Lance Ogan and Casey Jones will serve as Pallbearers; Trey Sanders and Curtis Ogan will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family request that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
The family will receive friends at 1PM prior to services at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. The Brooks-Durham Funeral Home is honored to serve the Jones family and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
