Thomas Buford Slusher, 86, of Cynthiana, formerly of Tinsley, passed away at his home on December 8, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was the son of the late William Matt and Mary Elizabeth Dean Slusher. He was a member of the East Jellico Baptist Church where he was saved at a young age. He was a military veteran in the US Air Force and was a staff Sergeant Korean War Veteran. He worked at Southern Bell Telephone, drove a school bus, worked for the state highway and owned and operated Slusher’s Grocery until he retired. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He fished, went coon hunting, watched all of the grandchildren playing sports and he was always ready to go on vacation if anyone said they were going.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Eula Goodin, Eunice Slusher, William Slusher, Cecil Slusher, Claude “Crook” Slusher, Robert “Cotton” Slusher, Paul Slusher, Donald Slusher, Leon Slusher and Leonard “T” Slusher.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Jackson Slusher; children Thomas Wayne (Susie) Slusher, Phyllis Ann (Paul) Mills, John William (Rae Jean) Slusher and Lana Bessie (Jerry) Wagner. Grandchildren, Thomas J. Slusher, Joshua (Tiffani) Garnett, Jeremy Garnett, Brittany (Nick) Anderson, Kali Wade, Lindsey (Jake) Jenkins, Sarah (Charlie) Holder, Kenzi Slusher and Tyler Wagner. Great-grandchildren, Lexi Switzer, Brock and Kamden Wade and JD and Camryn Jenkins. Brothers, Faye Slusher and Glenn Slusher and a host of nieces and nephews.
